THE DISPATCHES
08/27/2017
Did summer come and go? Events here have been a blur of moving life and studio to a new spot, putting the final touches on new products, mulling over new ideas and enjoying some incredibly great weather here in the East Village.
The week ahead promises to be a busy mess of maintaining a production schedule for new things to come out in the fall, as well as client work. All of this while moving a few hundred books along with other belongings and equipment into a new space.
I've put together some recent thoughts about being an artist/entrepreneur and the public perception of what that kind of life really is. None of my entrepreneur friends, no matter where they are in their (ad)ventures, have felt like they traded their corporate gig for more time by working for themselves. About 100 percent of the time, it's quite the opposite.
But they are enjoying a sense of purpose and autonomy. These factors and others enter into this week's piece, which is my take on some of the more recent conversations I've had with other people, artists and otherwise, in the community.
Ok, that's it from me. I'll be taking next weekend off from The JOURNAL, as I get situated and make sure everything is in its rightful place, at the new space.
Enjoy your week ahead...and the long weekend if you're in the U.S.
Be safe and stay human,
CEDRIC VICTOR
