My favorite month is here! I love October because it is when leaves change color, temperatures start to drop and the days become noticeably shorter. It's a silly thing to have a favorite month, I know, but really everyone should have one and give a good reason for it, I think.
My reason for liking October so much is that everything about this month is an acknowledgement of death and the circle of life. Historically, it's in this month that I instinctively start to get more introspective and feel more optimistic; after a summer of punishing sunshine, October hints at mercy from the sun for the next six months.
This week's piece is about luck, and how it's not everything it's made up to be.
